Representation in the Catalog

Here you will find information regarding identities/demographics represented in the catalog. It is the hope of the North American Clarinet Repertoire Project that through visible statistics we can hold ourselves accountable for diverse representation. 

This website is a prototype and does not have all features available. 
These statistics represent the complete catalog of works not the catalog currently available online throughout the prototype.


Of the demographics represented in the catalog, 65% are women, 34.5% are Men and .5% identify as non-binary or genderfluid.

Racial/Ethnic Representation

The racial/ethnic representation of the catalog is 70% white, 30% non-white with the non-white composers 12% Black, 6% Hispanic/Latinx, 8% Asian, 1% Indian, 1% Jewish, and 2% other.  

Sexual Orientation and LGBTQ+

70% of the catalog is comprised of composer who identify as straight/heterosexual. 8% identify as gay, 5% identify as bisexual, 3% as queer, 2% as demisexual, 2% as pansexual and 12% prefer not to disclose their sexuality.

Of the composers listed in the catalog 11% identify as having a disability including neurodivergence, visual and hearing impairments, ambulatory difficulty, sensory disability, physical disability, and communication difficulty.
