Concerto for Clarinet and Orchestra
Clarinet, Orchestra (or electronics)
This piece was composed in the spring of 2021 at the Vermont College of Fine Arts. It was inspired by some of the wonderful concertos recorded by Finnish clarinetist Kari Kriikku, especially the concerto by Unsuk Chin. It was performed live at the Vermont College of Fine Arts in August 2021 by Rane Moore, clarinet with a pre-recorded MIDI rendering of the orchestral part.
It was also performed with orchestra at the Sofia Symphonic Summit in 2022 by Rossen Idealov, clarinet, with Simeon Pironkov conducting the Sofia Philharmonic.
Please note that this piece can be played by solo clarinet with the orchestra part on a pre-recorded backing track. The performance linked to above was created with this method - the soloist, Rane Moore recorded it in a live performance with the orchestra part coming through an on-stage PA system.
